Dr Rajiv Ratn Shah

 Prof. Rajiv Ratn Shah is an Associate Professor in the Department of Intelligent Systems at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kanpur and the Founder and Head of the MIDAS Research Lab. His research focuses on Artificial Intelligence, with expertise in Natural Language Processing, Multimodal AI, Large Language Models, Human-Centered Computing, and Multimedia Computing.
Prof. Shah received his Ph.D. in Computer Science from the National University of Singapore (NUS). Before joining IIT Kanpur, he served as an Associate Professor in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) and the Department of Human-Centered Design (HCD) at IIIT Delhi. Earlier, he was a Research Fellow at the Living Analytics Research Centre (LARC), Singapore Management University (SMU), where he conducted research on artificial intelligence and data analytics.
His research has been recognized through several prestigious honors, including the Heidelberg Laureate Forum (HLF) Fellowship, the European Research Consortium for Informatics and Mathematics (ERCIM) Fellowship, the Adobe Faculty Award, the JSPS Invitational Fellowship, and multiple Best Paper Awards at leading international conferences. He has authored over 200 research publications in premier AI, NLP, multimedia, and human-centered computing venues.
Prof. Shah actively contributes to the global research community by serving on the program committees, organizing committees, and editorial boards of leading international conferences and journals. Through the MIDAS Research Lab, he leads interdisciplinary research, mentors students and researchers, and collaborates closely with academia and industry to advance the frontiers of Artificial Intelligence.
